Here are some of the most asked questions....if you still don't find your answers please call or e-mail me....I'd love to talk with you.
1. How big is the driveway "really"?: The driveway
entrance has wings on it 60' wide to allow an easy turn in off the
county road. The security gate is 60' off the road so you won't
be hanging out in the street. The gate is 19' wide...yep it's
heavy! The driveway is 16' wide and good solid rock base all the
way to the horse barn. Around the barn are limestone
screenings some with grass growing through to unload horse on
soft ground. Easy turnaround even if you are not an expert
backer. No electric poles or trees anywhere near the barn /
parking area.
2. I have a stallion is that ok? Sure. I like to know in
advance so I can save you a corner stall. Then if your stallion
has a pal he gets along with we can leave the blinders down. If
not I can close of the top half of the stall between horses.
Stallions can only be turned out in the roundpen and can't stay
out at night. My stall walls don't go all the way to the rafters so if
you have a climber my stalls might not work out for you.
3. I have special stalling needs...mare with a foal, draft
horse, one that needs extra privacy...now what? No problem at
all. The barn has 2 stalls 12 x 14 that work great for any horse
that needs more room. Please let me know in advance so I can
keep a big stall open for you. If privacy is the issue we can put
your horse in a corner so there will be just one horse next door.
If space allows I can leave the stall next to yours empty. Then
one of the movable blinders goes up to keep horses from
touching noses.
4. I might arrive late is that OK? Yep....in the best western
traditions "the latch string" is always out. We certainly appreciate
a call so we know to expect late arrivals. I'm close to the gate
and barn so I'll just get up and get you settled in.
5. " During really hot weather can I layover in the
daytime"? Sure. With fans and misters in the barn it is
possible to keep things pretty nice inside.
6. " I have dogs and kids...will you let me stay"? Of
course. In order for everyone involved to stay safe and have a
good time there must be a few rules.....dogs must remain leashed
at all times and ask that you clean up after them. We reserve the
right to refuse dogs that threaten people or livestock. Children
are not required to be leashed but do need to be supervised.
7. "I enjoy a beer and my wife likes a glass of wine is
that OK"? Responsible adults are welcome to consume alcohol
they bring .
8. "Is there a way for me to check my e-mail or access
the internet"? The ranch currently has broadband internet
service via a radio antenna. Ask me and I'll help you with a
wireless connection or we can plug in your laptop in my office.
Currently having issues with our provider-no broadband at this
time. AT&T cell service is good for the use of "air cards".
9. "On my trip I blew a tire, the spare is on but is there
a mechanic or tire store nearby"? Right at the exit is a tire
store and mechanic. Good guys at Steve's Tire who will work
hard to get you back on the road. They can handle other repair
work as well...
10. "I'm in a hurry, arriving late, leaving early is there a
way for me to get fuel"? Shell station at the exit has pay at
the pump so you can fuel with a credit or debit card 24hrs a day.
11. "My trailer doesn't have living quarters in it, where
can I stay"? There is a Days Inn hotel about 15 min from the
ranch. The same town has several gas stations, grocery store,
several eating options including a 24 hr diner. Hotel phone
number is 918-623-2200.
12. "Can I leave horses a few days"? Certainly. If you
need to visit family, tend to business or have an unentered horse
to an event feel free to leave it at the ranch and we will take care
of it.
13. "My horse has gotten injured or sick while
traveling...can you help"? If your horse's illness isn't
contagious...he isn't running a fever or is injured we can help.
Most minor things can be handled here at the ranch. There is
always a well stocked medicine cabinet for an injury. If your
situation is more serious there are several veterinarians that you
can either haul to or will do farm calls.
14. "Can I ride or work my horse"? You are free to use
the round pen if it isn't being used by other guests. There are
miles and miles of quiet country dirt roads to ride on but we can't
offer other riding at the ranch at this time.
