The horse motel was built from the ground up as a
horse motel.  After contacting almost 50 professional
transports and serious show folks I was able to come
up with a construction plan for the barn and grounds.
The things that seemed most important to nearly
everyone have been incorporated in the ranch.

  • Wide easy entry driveway

  • Gated driveway for security

  • 24 hr arrival and departure

  • Safe, clean inside stalls and outside pens

  • RV hook ups right next to the barn with 30 amp
    electric and city water

  • Good outside lighting for late arrivals and early
    morning loading

  • Some oversize stalls for big horses and mares w/
    foals

  • Stallions welcome

  • Easy turn around for big rigs
  • Credit cards accepted

Late arrivals are welcome.  I appreciate a call before
10pm if you anticipate a late arrival.  Certainly if you
have an emergency and haven't made reservations feel
free to call at any time.  I ask that all guests call me after
lunch on the day of your arrival to confirm your
reservation and so I can estimate your arrival time.  In
this way I can be available at the ranch to welcome you.

Other things you should know about the horse motel.  Safety is our number one concern for both horses
and humans.

The center isle concrete has a heavy brushed finish for slip resistance.

Stalls are rubber matted over limestone screenings then bedded well for your horses comfort.

Stall walls are made of poly sheeting called "puck board".  This is the same material used in the
sidewalls of a hockey rink.  Easy to clean and no wood to be chewed on.

Dividers between stalls can be converted from full view to private thru the use of movable screens
made out of puck board.  If your horses are more comfortable being able to see each other they can.
Horses that need more privacy or horses from different owners won't be able to touch noses.

The barn has "city" water to ensure good quality water that horses will drink.
Buckets and water tubs are washed and disinfected between horses.  No automatic waterers.  This
allows monitoring of water intake.

There are no feeders/ hay racks in our stalls.  There are several reasons...feeders are hard to clean
and disinfect between horses.  Most horses that arrive here have been tied in a trailer for many hours.
These horses should be eating hay that is at ground level to encourage the clearing of their airway, not
eating hay out of overhead feeders.
I'm happy to hang an extra bucket for feeding grain and if you don't want to feed hay off the floor you are
welcome to hang your hay bags or nets or borrow one of my hay nets to feed hay.

All the electric in the barn is in metal conduit for safety.  Each stall has an outlet in the rafters for fans or
clippers.

There is a non chemical fly system in the barn as well as a misting system to moderate summer
temperatures.

Rules:

In order to promote a safe environment we must ask all guests to follow these rules...

Dogs must be leashed at all times.  Owners are asked to pick up after their dogs.  We reserve the right
to refuse dogs that are aggressive to people or stock.
Children:  Your children are welcome at the ranch but are required to be supervised.  This is a working
ranch and has certain hazards that require supervision.  Open stock ponds, snakes and livestock
to name a few.
Health paperwork:  All horses need a negative coggins report within the last 12 months, out of state
horses also need health certificates.  Any horse that appears contagious will be refused.
No smoking in the horse barn or on the porch.  During certain times of the year smoking and all open
flame may be banned due to wildfire concerns.
