Lay-up Boarding
Lay-up boarding is for those horses that have been injured or are
recovering from surgery. It is not for horses with contagious illnesses.
We can provide a number of services for your horse including
complete stall rest
limited space and or supervised turnout
handwalking
hydro-therapy for wounds
wrapping of leg wounds or injuries
daily medication to eyes
oral medication
close observation feed and water intake monitoring
special feed needs can be met including frequent feedings if
needed
Your cost for lay-up board depends on the services your horse needs.
The base price is Weekly $80 Monthly $300 in standard 12 x 12 stalls.
What you don't pay any additional for
Staff attendance at veterinarian or farrier appointments here at the
ranch
Updates to owner or trainer daily if desired
Administering of oral supplements or meds that can be given on
feed
Use of protective legwear like sports medicine boots or bell boots
(owner provided)
Consultation with veterinarian or farrier
Blankets, fly masks, fly spray on and off as needed
1 grooming session per week
What you are charged extra for :
Handwalking or handgrazing $10 per 30 min (pro-rated if less than
30
min)
Horses on complete stall rest $25/ mo and includes 1 additional
bag of
bedding per week.
Horses with extra bedding needs ask for quote depending on needs
Supervised turnout $10 per 30 min (pro-rated if less than 30 min)
Wrapping of legs for support /protection or wound management
includes laundry for standing wraps
Administering oral meds that require the horse be handled ie out of
a
tube vs on grain $2 per admin
Administering injectable meds ask for quote
Hydro-therapy for wounds $10 per 30 min
Soaking of feet
Supplies like vet wrap, wound meds etc. My cost + 10%. Owners
are
welcome to provide supplies,
bring them with the horse or have them shipped in to the ranch
from
your favorite catalog.
Special feed needs ask for quote
Additional grooming sessions $10 per session
Unless requested lay-up horses are fed free choice grass hay and a high
fat pelleted feed.
